Like many in Maine’s Second Congressional District, I have felt consistently let down by U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin’s lack of leadership on key issues. Whether it’s health care, tax reform or Maine’s economy, Poliquin seems to run from his constituents more often than answer them.

Maine needs a strong Democratic challenger this November., and that is why I support Lucas St. Clair for Congress. St. Clair was born in Dover-Foxcroft and led the successful campaign to create the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. That was a divisive issue when he inherited the campaign, but he embraced the challenge. He led a grassroots campaign hallmarked by his level of accessibility to friends and foes alike; and throughout the process demonstrated a level of grit that would serve Maine well in Washington.

The monument is now broadly popular and is spurring regional economic growth.

I support Lucas St. Clair for Congress.
