GARDINER — Open Book Players will hold auditions for their spring production of “The World of Carl Sandburg” from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at Johnson Hall.

Carl Sandburg’s works, adapted by Norman Corwin, was first performed by Bette Davis and Lief Erickson and a host of others in New York and on tour. The best of the Pulitzer Prize-winner’s verse, including some previously unpublished works and prose, as well as parts from the biography of Lincoln, create a mosaic sample of the talented writer’s literary contributions, and the performance is interspersed with optional American folk songs from his Songbag.

There are parts available for nine performers, and auditions will include cold readings from the script. Performances are Saturday and Sunday, April 7 and 8, at Johnson Hall.

For more information, contact Lucy Rioux, artistic director for Open Book Players, at lucyrioux@gmail.com or visit the OBP Facebook page.
