Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting

AUBURN — The Auburn Police Department will have a meeting for the Lake Auburn Neighborhood Crime Watch at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at West Auburn Congregational Church. 

Drumming group making a beat  

LEWISTON — The Hand Drumming Group plays from 1 to 3 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month, at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St. 

All levels and styles of drummers can play, and they can bring their own instrument or try one of the club’s drums. The cost to play is by donation.

Historical society to hear about RR depot

MINOT — All are welcome to a meeting of the Minot Historical Society at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at the Minot Railroad Depot, West Minot.

Roger Diffin will show how they have changed the depot to a home and will talk about and show pictures of the depot. Anyone who has pictures or memories to share is invited to do so.

Refreshments will follow a short business meeting.

OES chapter to elect officers

WALES – Lakeside Chapter, OES, of Sabattus, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at 322 Centre Road, for the annual meeting and election of officers.

There will be a 6 p.m. potluck supper provided by the officers. Members are welcome, but should remember to have their 2018 dues cards. Officers will be in street dress.

‘Gold Star Mother Pilgrimages’

NEW GLOUCESTER — “The Gold Star Mother Pilgrimages” will be the title of the Thursday, March 15, program of the New Gloucester Historical Society.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the New Gloucester Meetinghouse, 389 Intervale Road, next to the Town Hall. The program will be held in honor of the World War I armistice centennial.

The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

College planning workshops slated

LEWISTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host free workshops, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and older.

The workshops will be held at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 29, and Wednesday, April 4, at the Lewiston Career Center, 5 Mollison Way

Auburn Church collecting hygiene products 

AUBURN — The Auburn United Methodist Church is supporting the Center for Wisdom’s Women by helping supply hygiene products for the women that they serve.

Requested donations include shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, body wash, disposable razors, lotion, lip balm and feminine hygiene products.

Pinochle, pitch players welcome

LEWISTON — Pinochle and pitch card games for seniors are played weekly through May at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave.

New players are always welcome. Pitch is played at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays. Pinochle is at 1 p.m. on Thursdays. Refresher courses are available in both categories.

The armory is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Players must become a member to participate.
