WEST PARIS — Mary Jane V. Orr, 79, of West Paris, left this Earth in her home on Tuesday, March 13.
Jenny, as she was known to many, held a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. After meeting her then-husband, the late Charles William Morton Orr, at Johns Hopkins University in the 1960s, Jenny and Charlie traveled back and forth from the United States to the United Kingdom, following careers with their children Iain, Hugh, Julia, and Winifred.
In the 1970s, Jenny and Charlie left the field of science to begin an organic dairy farm in Nova Scotia, where they had their fifth child, Edwin. In 1987, they sold the cattle and moved to Maine, close to their dear cousins, Dr. William T. and Alison Whitney. Jenny later received an M.S. in counseling from the University of Southern Maine, serving as a therapist in Oxford County for over 25 years.
Jenny was a beautiful, loving, brilliant woman, profoundly determined and driven by the pursuit of service and justice, a light onto her family and friends, a melody that will forever conduct the music of our hearts.
Jenny is survived by four of her five children, Iain, Julia, Winifred and Edwin.
Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
