POWAY, Calif. — Glenn John Boston, USN (retired), passed away peacefully at home in Poway, Calif., on Monday, March 12, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn (Hudson) Boston, of Auburn; and his two children, Gary Boston and wife, Celia, in Maryland, and Gale Shay in Escondido. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Glenn was raised in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1952. After high school he joined the Navy and served on four aircraft carriers as the aircraft maintenance officer. Cmdr. Boston fought in three wars and served his country for 37 years.

While serving in the Navy, he was chosen to attend the post-graduate school in Monterey, Calif., where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aeronautical maintenance. After retiring, he and Evelyn moved back to Poway, Calif., where he fulfilled his dream of becoming a teacher by getting his credentials and working as a substitute teacher for the Poway and Escondido school districts. He retired from teaching after 14 years.

He enjoyed several hobbies, singing in the church choirs at each duty station, hiking and camping with his wife at Lake Morena, and growing a magnificent vegetable garden. His passion, above all else, was being a HAM radio operator.

Glenn was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to all.
