AUGUSTA — The U.S. Small Business Administration announces area winners of its annual business awards.
President Rayland O’Neal and Vice President Sasha Long of Arcast Inc. in Oxford have been selected to receive the U.S. SBA’s 2018 Small Business Exporter of the Year Award for Maine,
Bethany Weisberger, owner of Gneiss Spice of Albany Township, has been selected to receive the SBA’s Home-Based Business of the Year Award for Maine and New England.
Arcast Inc. designs and manufactures advanced metallurgical processing equipment in its Oxford facility. O’Neal and Long founded the company in 2010 and have steadily expanded their product offerings and have built exports to approximately 50 percent of their revenue.
Weisberger is being recognized because of her steady and impressive business growth and her commitment to giving back to the small business community. Specifically, Gneiss Spice donates 5 percent of profits to local and national non-profits focused on food-security, financial literacy and education.
The award winners will be honored at the 2018 SBA Small Business Awards Celebration on Tuesday, May 1, at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport.
