AUBURN — Kenneth E. Sleeper’s long journey came to an end peacefully while he slept. He died Tuesday morning, April 17, at the age of 90. He was born in Lewiston, Oct. 17, 1928, to Elmer and Mable Sleeper, one of seven children: Shirley, Janice, Raymond, Robert, Harold and Elmer Jr.

He attended Edward Little High School, graduating in 1947. After serving two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, Ken began working for Sears, Roebuck & Co. in 1950, until his retirement in 1993.

He was a life member of VFW Post 1603 of Auburn, and a past commander of American Legion Post 153 in New Auburn.

Ken is survived by his wife of 36 years, Judy A. Sleeper, of Auburn; his daughter, Judy, and husband, Tom Fish, of Turner; his son, Michael Sleeper, and wife, Sue, of Sabattus; three stepsons, Jamie Pelletier and his fiance, Katherine Hiss, of Auburn, Jody Pelletier, of Litchfield, and Jason Pelletier and his wife, Karey, of Lewiston; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
