TURNER — Stacey Kenniston, instructor for English for Speakers of Other Language for School Administrative District 52, has been certified in Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.
She completed a 15-week online course through Anaheim University.
The course offers a balance of current theory and practical experience in second language instructional methods. The communication approach is to have students do the talking.
Kenniston was last year’s recipient of the Maine Adult Education Association scholarship for teachers to enhance and fine-tune their instructional practice, and she chose to gain this certification as part of her practice.
The TESOL Core Certification course provides a base knowledge in teaching English as a second language with focus on methods and approaches.
