LEWISTON — Ruby E. “Judy” “Goggi” Agnew, 97, of Auburn, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 28, at CMMC, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Williston, Vt. on Sept. 26, 1920, the daughter of the late George U. and Gertrude (Davis) Richardson. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1938 and went on to graduate from Burlington Business College.

After graduation, she worked at Prudential where she became office supervisor. On Jan. 29, 1949, she married John C. Agnew. Ruby worked at Bates College and John E. O’Donnell and Associates as a bookkeeper. She was also a bookkeeper at Montello Manor Nursing Home, until her retirement in 1985.

Ruby was a member of the First Auburn Senior Citizens Friendly Circle, the Red Hatters at the Esplanade as well as a member of Martha Circle of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, nature, playing bridge with her friends, her summer vacations in Vermont and her winter vacations in Florida with her brother, Earle, and sister-in-law, Therese.

She also loved spending time at Sand Pond with her close friend, Lee Manchester. Above and beyond all of those passions, Ruby’s main love and concern was for her family. She was a loving, caring and devoted mother and grandmother. She was courageous, strong and always positive and optimistic. She was an inspiration for all of us and we will always miss her every day.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judy Turgeon and her husband, Harry of Lewiston and Jill McIntosh of Auburn. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Eric Turgeon and his wife, Michelle of Barrington, R.I., Kimberly Pelletier and her husband, Matthew of Portland and Derek McIntosh and his wife, Lindsay of Saco; as well as her seven great-grandchildren, Ruby, Archie and Adalyn Turgeon, Evan Pelletier and Miya, Maisie and Shia McIntosh; a sister-in-law, Therese Richardson of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
