BRUNSWICK — David Wayne Elder, 69, of 46 Elm St., Auburn, died Friday, May 4, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, following a long illness.

Born in Boston, Mass., on July 7, 1948, he was the son of William B. and Gloria A. Stevens Elder. He was educated in Massachusetts schools, and moved to Maine in 1989. He went to work as a pipe fitter at Bath Iron Works that same year, retiring in November 2016. On Aug. 7, 2004, he married the former Dominga Col-Ing, and they made their home in Auburn. David enjoyed spending time with family and friends, keeping birds, especially parrots, and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife, Dominga of Auburn, two sons, Shane of Marion, Ill., and Josh and wife Alice of Auburn, two daughters, Diane and husband Eric Crooker of Lakeland, Fla., and Jennifer Mead of Auburn, and seven grandchildren.
