BUCKFIELD — Phyllis Theresa Blood, 94, of Buckfield passed away Saturday, May 5, a day after her 94th birthday.

She was born in Rockland in 1924, daughter of Hazel and Clifford Blood. She grew up in the Rockland area with her two sisters, where she enjoyed the outdoors, as well as skating and dancing.

She met and married Donald Eugene Porter after World War II. They settled in the Bangor area where Don was in the Air National Guard and then to Old Town where she helped run the bowling alley.

She was Maine State Women’s Candlepin Bowling champion twice. She then traveled the country during her retirement.

She is survived by three sons, Wayne Porter of Fallon, Nev., Glenn Porter of Cumberland and Deane Porter of Saco; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed camping, square dancing, gardening, puzzles, bowling and, of course, her beloved Red Sox and Celtics. Phyllis was also a member of the Buckfield Community Church.
