LIVERMORE FALLS — Stanley Jack Harmatys Jr., 86, of Livermore Falls, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 21, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., the son of Stanley Jack Harmatys and Susan (Grochala) Harmatys. Stan was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

On Jan. 8, 1955, in Niagara Falls, he married Margaret “Peggy” Duttry of Pennsylvania. Peggy passed away Oct. 6, 2013. Stan worked as a production coordinator for International Paper in North Tonawanda, N.Y., for several years before transferring with his family to Maine in 1976, where he went to work for the Otis Mill in Jay. He retired in 1993.

Stan was a member of International Paper Quarter Century Club. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and could tell you every statistic from every ball game. He enjoyed bowling, softball, PlayStation, playing pool, watching cowboy movies, growing tomato plants and hunting. He especially enjoyed holiday family dinners and time spent with his children and grandchildren.

“Pop” loved to tell stories and make us all smile and laugh. We will miss him very much.

He is survived by his children Theresa L. Harmatys of Livermore Falls, Jack S. Harmatys of Jay and his former wife, Julie Harmatys, of Medway, Robert J. Harmatys and his wife, Rebecca, of Livermore; grandchildren Russell Greeley and wife, Krystal, of New York, William Greeley and wife, Jaime, of New Jersey, Christopher Greeley and Emily Marsters of Livermore Falls, Cassaundra Harmatys of Winthrop, Alexa Rae Harmatys of Livermore and Grace Elizabeth Harmatys of Livermore and Brittany Carrier of Portland; his great-grandson, Hunter Greeley; and his niece, Cynda Watroba.

He was predeceased by his sister, Arlene Watroba.
