FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue High School Interact Club is fun, welcoming, and offers a great opportunity to help the community, according to its current participants.

“I would recommend someone to Interact because it’s an experience anyone can learn from,” said Logan Whitley at the May 31 Farmington Rotary Club meeting.

The club members recounted the activities they had taken part in during the 2017-18 school year. They did Halloween window painting at Farmington businesses and participated in Trunk or Treat in October.

In December, they designed a Christmas tree for the Festival of Trees, which was held in conjunction with Chester Greenwood Day.

“We had a lot of fun decorating,” said Meg Charles.

Additionally, they had a float in the Chester Greenwood Day parade. The events continued with “The Price is Right” at the high school in March.

“We love helping,” said Whitley.

Other club activities included the Penny Challenge and Rise Against Hunger. Fundraisers included the sponsorship of a Safe Passage child, helping raise money for a new timing shack at Titcomb Mountain, and a Valentine’s Day raffle. This year, Interact donated more than $1,000 to various community projects.

Club advisers are Pauline Rodrigue, Terri Winslow, and Pattie Millette. They each received Service Above Self Awards from Rotary for their assistance with the club.

“My favorite part of Interact was definitely The Price is Right,” said Hannah Minns. “Seeing people have a good time and putting smiles on people’s faces was definitely worth it.”
