RUMFORD — Rumford Elementary School, one of the two elementary schools in Regional School Unit 10, is third on the Maine Department of Education’s 2018 priority list for school construction, Superintendent Deb Alden said Tuesday.

“We will be getting a committee together to plan for this and looking into a pre-kindergarten through grade eight facility in the Mountain Valley region to better meet the needs of our students both educationally and from a security and safety standpoint, while substantially reducing costs for the entire RSU 10,” Alden said.

The first two schools on the 74-project DOE list are Fairfield Primary School in Fairfield and North Elementary School in Skowhegan.

Alden also said the RSU 10 board of directors hired Alexis Noyes on Monday as a special education teacher at Rumford Elementary School. Noyes is a 2018 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington.
