AUBURN — Elmer P. Benedix Sr. (Sonny), 72, of Auburn passed away suddenly Thursday, July 5, at his home, with his loving girlfriend, Cathy, by his side. He was born in Lewiston on March 29, 1946, to Elmer A. and Pearl Benedix. His work included carpentry and asbestos. His hobbies included woodworking, watching NASCAR (his favorite was #88), watching the Patriots and playing cards, beeno and bingo at the Barker Arms Residence. He also enjoyed spending time with his family
He is survived by his girlfriend of seven years, Cathy Provost; his four children: sons Glen Benedix and companion, Julie, of Turner; Elmer Benedix Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Waldoboro; and Frederick Benedix and companion, Lisa, of Bowdoin; and daughter Corrie Bergeron and husband, John, of Sabattus; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Elmer A. Benedix; his mother, Pearl Benedix; and two sisters: Janice Bowie and Lillian Bartley.
