LEWISTON — Police on Saturday were still investigating shots fired on Horton Street in downtown Lewiston on Friday evening, according to Lewiston police Lt. David St. Pierre.

“We have not made an arrest or located any victims other than property damage,” he said Saturday night.

Witnesses reported hearing between six and 12 shots fired around 6:30 p.m. followed by screams and the sound of rounds striking metal.

Several spent shells were found in a driveway behind The Washtub launderette at Horton and Walnut streets. Police quickly cordoned off the area and taped off a section of Horton Street between Walnut and Birch streets.

The gunfire was the latest of several over the spring and summer.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lewiston Police Detective Ryan Rawstron at 513-3001, extension 3321.
