FRYEBURG — Police are investigating a body found Sunday morning along the Saco River.
Police said they discovered the body as they were responding to a 911 call involving a canoer.
Fryeburg police said a 28-year-old man from Nashua, New Hampshire, was found near mile 14 of the river at 7:45 a.m. Sunday.
Officers had deployed an airboat to respond to a medical emergency, with assistance from Fryeburg Rescue paramedics, according to police.
Responders found the man’s body on the beach.
His name was not being released Sunday night.
Police said the Maine Medical Examiner’s Office is determining the cause of the man’s death.
