FAYETTE — Barbara Louise Lewis Jewett, 51, of Fayette, is now dancing with Jesus after surviving breast cancer for 16 years. She was born May 28, 1967, in Waterville, the daughter of Clair H. and Mary E. Lewis. She was raised in Unity and graduated from Mt. View High School. She received her B.S. in elementary education from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1988.

It was at UMF that Barbara met her husband, Eric, whom she married in 1988. Together they made their home in Livermore and Fayette. They raised three sons, who, after Jesus, were the best thing in her life. She worked in various local school systems over the years, most recently at Livermore Falls High School and Spruce Mountain High School as the Jobs for Maine’s Graduates job specialist.

From an early age Jesus was the center of Barbara’s life, and in all things she strived to serve Him. Her work as an educator gave her great pleasure and she dearly loved her students. At home, time with Eric and her boys was her chief joy, and the family made many trips together over the years as their sons were growing up. Barbara enjoyed cooking; if you’ve ever enjoyed any of her food, know that she loved you!

Barbara is survived by her husband of 30 years, Eric W. Jewett of Fayette, sons Keith, Ian of Old Town, and Tad of Fayette, her mother Mary Lewis of Augusta, her brother Christopher Lewis and his wife Michelle of Gorham, her in-laws, Frank and Marlene Jewett of Kittery, brother-in-law Frank Jewett and his wife Judy of Haverhill, Mass., brother-in-law Dana Jewett and his wife Vicky of Johnston, Vt., and sister-in-law Nancy Jessurun and her husband Scott of Greenland, N.H. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

Messages of condolence may be made to www.finleyfuneralhome.com.
