RUMFORD — John W. Grant Jr., 81, died peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Rumford Community Home, surrounded by family and loved ones.
He was born in Gray on Sept. 18, 1936, one of 15 children of John W. Grant Sr. and Marie Bragdon, and attended local schools. He married Betty Swan on Sept. 4, 1958. Mr. Grant had a reputation for having a good work ethic and worked in many fields. His favorite times were attending fairs with his donkey, Jack.
He was predeceased by his son, Carl S. Grant.
Mr. Grant is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty; two daughters: Tina M. Grant and Bonnie J. Dyment; several siblings; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
