JAY — An apartment on Church Street was destroyed by fire Sunday morning.
Firefighters from several area towns battled the stubborn blaze at 12 Church Street. The extensive damage to the structure displaced 13 residents.
The fire was first reported sometime after 9 a.m. Sunday. Firefighters responded to reports of smoke.
Images from the scene showed firefighters working on the roof and checking out damage on the second floor.
More than 10 towns assisted the Jay firefighters, including Livermore, Farmington and Canton, to fight the structure fire.
There were no reports of injury.
Officials were uncertain Sunday how the fire started.
