I have known John Nutting for more than 40 years. He is an experienced and frugal legislator who is known for his bi-partisanship and ability to work across the aisle to serve the needs of the people he represents. As a taxpayer, I know that he understands the importance of keeping property taxes reasonable while providing a quality education for the young people of the district.
Nutting wrote the school-funding formula that was used prior to the current “Essential Programs and Services.” He knows that the “regional adjustment” in the current formula isn’t fair to school districts in rural Maine because it gives extra funding for staff costs to the property-wealthy areas of the state. He knows that is the exact opposite of what a fair formula is supposed to do.
I hope other voters in House District 75 will join me in support of John Nutting.
