Food pantry seeks donations

AUBURN — The High Street Congregational Church Food Pantry has ongoing needs for the following items: peanut butter, canned vegetables, soup, canned pasta, canned meats, canned fruit, dry cereal, baking items, soup, crackers and toilet paper.

Auburn United Methodist Church collects items for the pantry. Donations may be brought to 439 Park Ave.

Historical society to host Samuel Howes

BUCKFIELD — The Buckfield Historical Society will have Samuel Howes as the guest speaker on Thursday, Oct. 11. at the Buckfield Town Hall. Howes is with the Maine Archives and works a lot with the Jay Historical Society. Social hour starts at 6 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7. Open to the public, come and see what the Historical Society has been working on.

Lisbon Historical Society to host Antiques Night

LISBON — On Wednesday evening, Oct. 10, the Lisbon Historical Society will host its annual Antiques Night, one of the Society’s most popular programs. The event is free and open to the public. Members and guests are asked bring antiques, memorabilia or treasures from the attic to the meeting.

All attendees wishing to participate are invited to share information about an item in a “show-and-tell” session, explaining what they know about the background and historical significance of their item. Others may participate by displaying what they have brought. This is not an event for appraisals.

Refreshments will be served following the event. The Lisbon Historical Society is in the MTM Center, 18 School St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event starts at 7. Parking is at the rear of the MTM building, as is entrance to Society rooms.

Danville Junction Grange to meet

AUBURN — Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the hall for dessert. The business meeting will start at 7 p.m. Membership certificates will be awarded at that time. The program will be on education.

Reminder to members: please bring small packets of pocket tissues for the national community service project, as well as clipped coupons for veterans.

All Grange members and guests are welcome.

Pine Cone Chapter Eastern Star to meet

AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

The Chapter will honor the Star Point Stations Cynthia Matthews, grand Adah; Debora Caldwell, grand Ruth; Robin Anderson, grand Esther; and Greta Bickford, grand Martha. Eileen Winslow, grand electa, will present a special program.

The meeting will be preceded by a pot luck supper at 6 p.m. All Eastern Star members are welcome.
