100 years ago: 1918
 
The Norway and Paris street railway car service is now discontinued. The last car ran Saturday evening. The Norway and Paris Transfer Co. started business Sunday morning with a Ford sedan owned by Carl Dunham. A large, covered truck with seats and windows owned by Carl Dunham and Alton C. Maxim will run daily making hourly trips. 
 
50 years ago: 1968
 
A variety of traditional Greek pastries and unusual Greek delicacies will be offered at the food sale sponsored by the Philoptohos Society of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Oct. 11. The sale will be held at the Lisbon Street location of the former Babyland store starting at 8:30 a.m. Mrs. George Simones and  Mrs. Armand Samson are co-chairmen of the event. 
 
 25 years ago: 1993
 
Council 180 of United Commercial Travelers will honor its 25-year members on Oct. 18 at a meeting at the American Legion Hall, 426 Washington St. Receiving certificates of recognition will be George Blackwood, Anthony Camardese, Conrad Dionne, Maurice Dube, Donald Holt Sr., Thomas Watson Sr. and William Vassar. Bill Dwinal, chairman of the event, will preside at the presentations, which will follow supper served at 8 p.m. sharp. Dancing will complete the evening’s activities.
