LEEDS — Lubert B. Bachelder, 70, a resident of Leeds, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 9, 1947, in Avon, the son of Gideon L. Bachelder and Mabel E. (Phillips) Bachelder. He was educated in the Phillips and Leeds schools.

In 1993, he married Cindy Hewins in Monmouth. Lubert was an auto mechanic for Thrifty Toyota in Auburn for 30 years and retired in 1995. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, four-wheeling and cracking jokes. One of Lubert’s recent outings was going on a four-wheeler ride with a great friend, Arthur, touring the trails in Farmington. He will be remembered for his love of his family, his sense of humor and his willingness to help anyone no matter the time of day.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Bachelder, of Durham; a son, Gideon Bachelder, and companion, Sara Pike, of Leeds; two daughters, Regina Sorto and husband, Gerber, of Atlanta, Ga., and Jennifer Paradis and husband, Matthew, of Durham; three brothers, Linwood Bachelder of Avon, Charles Bachelder of Leeds, John Bachelder and wife, Susan, of Turner; also four sisters, Sylvia “Sib” Hibbard of Leeds, Marie Lawrence and husband, Frank, of Kenduskeag, Patricia Nile and husband, John, of Leeds, Velma Lowit and husband, Jason, of Lewiston; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Austin Bachelder in 1975 and Alan Bachelder in 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Bragdon-Finley Funeral Home, 707 Main St., Monmouth. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be sent to the family at Bragdon-Finley Funeral Home, P.O.
