LEWISTON— Anna M. Faucher, 98, of Pettingill St., Lewiston, died peacefully, on Saturday, October 20, at St.Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion after several months of declining health.

Born in Lewiston, on Jan. 6, 1920, Anna was the beloved daughter of Philibert and Anna Lebrun Buteau and was educated in Lewiston schools, obtaining her GED from Lewiston High School on October 21, 1982.  She worked in the local shoe shops and mills, working in the Pepperell Mill until it closed.

Anna married Edward J. Faucher on May 19, 1943 in Memphis Tennessee with whom she would help raise and care for their family together for the next 46 years until his passing in August of 1989.

Anna had many interests.  She loved to sing and was a very outgoing person.  For many years she sang at funeral masses at Holy Family Church until she was no longer able to drive in 2010 due to cancer complications.  She was a member of the New Auburn American Legion Post 153 Auxiliary from 1954 until her death and held various offices in the auxiliary for many years.  She was a member of the local AARP Chapter serving as an officer and on the board of directors for many years.  She was a member of the Lewiston Seniors, serving as president and on the board of directors for many years.  As a member of the Lewiston Seniors, she looked forward to playing cribbage every Thursday morning with her cribbage buddies and going out to lunch afterwards.  She also volunteered at the Lewiston Public Theater and was a member of the Magic Pops Chorus. She also loved to take rides with her son Ray in his Corvette, with the local Corvette Club.

She is survived by her son Raymond of Lewiston, daughter-in-law Barda Leavitt of Augusta, grandchildren, Audrey Withee and her husband Jason of Bedford, NH, Andrew Faucher and his wife Ashley of Lewiston and Joseph Faucher and his fiancée Allie Albert of New Haven, CT; one great-grandchild, Edison Withee and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, son, Richard; brothers, George, Leandre, Philibert and Charles Buteau; and one sister, Rita L’Heureux.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday Oct. 23 2-4 & 6-8 at Fortin’s in Lewiston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday Oct. 24 11 AM at Holy Family Church.
