LEWISTON- Marcel L. Doyon 99, a longtime resident Lisbon died Wednesday October 17, at Montello Heights with his loving family at his side. He was born in Brunswick on November 21, 1918 a son of the late Arthur and Emma (Dion) Doyon. He was educated at St. John’s School Brunswick. Marcel proudly served his country in the US Army, during WWII. He fought at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge.

Marcel married his true love, the former Evelyn Marie Fournier on November 24, 1945. Together they settled in Lisbon Falls to raise their 7 children. After the war Marcel worked many years at BIW, and later transitioned into a fulltime Real Estate Broker and was a well-respected business man in the town of Lisbon. He was compassionate and helped many who were less fortunate. He and his wife were the driving force for establishing group homes for The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill in Maine (NAMI).

Marcel was a former member of Holy Family Church in Lisbon Falls, Now Holy Trinity, the local VFW Post 158, The Knights of Columbus in Lisbon Falls, the Rotary, International and was a founding member of the Lisbon Credit Union.

He is survived by his loving and devoted children: Charles Doyon and wife Diane of Lewiston, Anthony “Tony” Doyon and wife Linda of Lisbon Falls, Gregory Doyon and wife Diane of Abington, MA, Claire Samson and husband Jerry of Buckfield, Priscilla Wilcox and husband Bob of Strafford, NH, Mark Doyon of Lisbon Falls, and Daniel Doyon and wife Aurora of Novato, CA, a sister Rita Moriaty of Burlington, MA, his nine grandchildren: Stephanie, Louis, Christopher, Melissa, Matthew, Scott, Tiffany, Jennifer and Michael, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved Wife Evelyn on August 24, 1999 and seven siblings: Maurice, Lucille, Madeline, Frank, Irenee’ Connie and Betty.

Visitation will be on Wednesday Oct. 24 from 3-7 at Crosman Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday Oct. 25 at 11 AM at Holy Trinity Church, 67 Frost Hill Rd. Lisbon Falls. Committal will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery.
