DURHAM — One person was hurt Monday afternoon when a pickup truck veered into a store parking lot on Route 136 and struck four vehicles.

Sgt. Tim Kachnovich of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said late Monday night that Matthew Miller, 25, of Auburn swerved his southbound truck to avoid a car ahead of him that was stopped to turn into the Durham Get ‘n Go. The truck hit the 2003 Toyota sedan driven by Adriana Salerno-Dominguez, 39, of Portland.

The truck continued into the store parking lot, striking a 2012 Subaru Outback driven by Sherri Julian, 45, of Durham, a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Lawrence Rugan, 58, of Durham, and a 2015 Mercedes driven by Raymond Baldasaro, 39, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, the officer said.

Baldasaro complained of pain and was taken to a hospital, Kachnovich said.

Rugan was standing next to his car, the officer said.

Baldasaro was retrieving something from his back seat when the accident occurred, according to a witness.

Miller’s passenger was identified as Luke Lozis, 21; Salerno-Dominguez’s as Lauren Ashwell, 40, of Portland; and Baldasaro’s as John Aldsaro of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Miller’s truck and Julian’s Subarau were totaled, while Baldasaro’s car was towed. Salerno-Dominguez’s sedan and Rugan’s pickup had minor damage, Kachnovich said.

Kachnovich said Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Detective Tom Slivinski was at the store on an investigation and witnessed the accident.

The Durham Fire Department and Freeport Rescue were called to the scene.

No charges have been filed and the accident is under investigation, Kachnovich said.
