Mariette Foisy

1920 – 2018

BRUNSWICK – Mariette Foisy, 98, of Lewiston, died peacefully on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at Avita of Brunswick.

She was born in Lewiston, on March 17, 1920, the daughter of the late Pierre and Albertha (Landry) Lajoie and had been a resident of this community all of her life.

She married Joseph A. Foisy in November of 1947; and he died on March 28, 2010.

She was employed as a weaver at the Bates Mill, until she became a homemaker.

Mariette was an avid golfer, having belonged to Fairlawn Country Club, and an avid bowler.

She enjoyed sewing and crafts, playing cards, and most of all, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family and friends.

Mariette was known for her great sense of humor, and she loved entertaining and hosting family gatherings.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Foisy and his wife, Carleen, of Greene, and William Foisy and his wife, Elizabeth, of Mills River, N C.; one stepson, Robert Foisy and his wife, Annette, of Sanford; four grandchildren, Rebecca Foisy Riff of Manchester, Mass., Jaban Foisy and his wife, Megan, of Buxton, Kayla Caron and her husband, Josh, of Sabattus, and Stephanie Foisy, of Greene; five great- grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Terry Lajoie, of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Georgette Rivard, and three brothers, Lionel, Romeo, and Roger Lajoie.

The family wishes to thank Mariette’s caretaker, Diane Bourdeau, and her neighbor, Mary Crockett, for everything they have done for their mother. They both made it possible for Mariette to keep her independence.

Funeral services honoring Mariette’s life will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m., at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 9-11 a.m., prior to the service at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, in Lewiston, 784-4023.
