Christmas for Kids/Teens deadline

PARIS — The application deadline for both Christmas for Kids and Christmas for Teens is Thursday, Dec. 6.

Applications are available at Community Concepts, the Chamber of Commerce, guidance offices in SAD 17 schools and by mail at Rightstart, Inc., P.O. Box 726, Norway, ME 04268. Donations may also be mailed to this address.

Heywood Club plans gathering

NORWAY — The Heywood Club of Norway will hold its annual December meeting and Christmas gathering on Monday, Dec. 10, at the home of Jaime Mowatt.

There will be a Christmas ornament swap, and those attending should bring a wrapped ornament that should cost no more than $5 and can be homemade or bought.

The club will gather at 5:30 p.m. for social time, and the potluck dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Club members should bring a dish to share; beverages will be provided.

Reservations are required by contacting Jaime Mowatt at 207-743-6909 by Friday, Dec. 7.

Snowshoe Club plans party

RUMFORD — The Snowshoe Club will host an adult Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the clubhouse.

Social hour will be from 5 to 6 p.m., with a roast pork supper at 6 p.m. and a dance from 7 to 11 p.m. with music by the Noel & Don Band.

Tickets will be on sale at the bar and will cost $10 for members and $12 for guests.

Swingin’ Bears to hold annual dance

PARIS — Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will have its annual Teddy Bear Dance from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Oxford Hills Mddle Shool, 100 Pine St.

Clubs are encouraged to bring their class members. Those attending should bring a donation of a new stuffed toy for the Christmas for Kids program.

Ray Hilton, yodeling club caller from Saco, will call, alternating between class level and mainstream level. He will also call one plus level dance. Carol Arsenault will cue the rounding.

Non-dancers are invited to come at no charge; dancer admission is $8 per person. Refreshments will be available throughout the evening. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.

Quilters to meet, have potluck

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters and Ladies of the Lake Quilters will meet at noon Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street.

It will include a holiday potluck tasting party. Participants are asked to bring bite-size portions of food, but not dessert, as that will be provided.

A baby shower for Newborns in Need will be held. Members are invited to bring a favorite hand-made Christmas decoration for show and tell. They should note change of time for this meeting only.
