BERWICK — Hannah Shields poured in a game-high 17 points and Buckfield bounced back from a slow start to defeat Seacoast Christian, 36-27, in girls’ basketball action.
Buckfield trailed, 11-3, at the end of the first quarter, but exploded for 19 points in the second quarter to take a 22-16 lead into halftime. Seacoast pulled within a point after three but was limited to just four points in the fourth as the Bucks pulled away.
Kathryn Henderson added seven points for the Bucks (3-3). Ally Akerberg led Seacoast (0-8) with 12 points.
Rangeley 69, Kents Hill 11
RANGELEY — Olivia Pye led a balance attack for Rangeley with 15 points in a 69-11 victory over Kents Hill in girls’ basketball action.
Lauren Eastlack has a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while also having six steals for the Lakers (9-1). Winnie LaRochelle had 12 points, six rebounds and four steals in the victory.
Jarni Hewins led Kents Hill (0-3) with four points.
Boys’ basketball
Buckfield 37, Seacoast Christian 27
BERWICK — Tyler Gammon scored a game-high 24 points and Buckfield used an 11-0 second quarter to distance itself from Seacoast Christian, 37-37, in boys’ basketball action.
Richard Kraske added five points for the Bucks (2-6). Ethan Huss had eight points to lead Seacoast (2-7).
