LIVERMORE – Raymond S. Lovewell, Sr., 93, a resident of Livermore, passed away peacefully, Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at the family farm where he was born, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 25, 1925, the son of Walter S. Lovewell and Flora (Lee) Lovewell.

Raymond was a 1943 graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner. On August 6, 1950, in Livermore he married his wife of 68 years, Joyce Holt. He owned and operated Lovewell Farms in Livermore having 300 head of Jersey cows, milking 150 daily, selling their milk to Hood and Agrimark. His father bought the first registered Jersey in 1900. Their Jersey bull was sent to Paraguay for breeding and they also sent heifers all over the world.

Raymond was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls, he was also a member of the North Livermore Baptist Church, Livermore Center Neighborhood Club, Maine Campers Association, Soil Conservation and Green Pastures and served as director of the Livermore Falls Cemetery and a selectman for the Town of Livermore.

He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, going to his camp in Eustis that he and his sons built, he was frequently seen at his grandchildren’s sporting events and also enjoyed sitting in his chair watching across the interval for animals and in the spring and fall the Canadian Geese flying in. He recently enjoyed watching the mud runs that are held on the Lovewell property in Livermore.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lovewell; sons, Raymond “Scott” Lovewell of Livermore, Stan “Moose” Lovewell and his wife Vickie of Livermore, Arlen Lovewell and his wife Terri of Ashland, Maine, David Lovewell and his wife Jill and Daren Lovewell, also of Livermore; 17 grandchildren, several that Raymond and Joyce helped raise; 29 great-grandchildren; his twin sister, Phyllis Buck of Mississippi; and his beloved dog “Bear”.

He was predeceased by his parents; grandson, Lee Edwin Lovewell; son, Kirk Lovewell; his sister, Evelyn Morris. and brothers-in-law, Silas Morris and Arnold Buck.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, at North Livermore Baptist Church, 619 Federal Rd., Livermore, Maine.
