AUBURN — Concerts for a Cause will host Bold Riley at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the First Universalist Church of Auburn.

The concerts raise money for local charities. The series is produced by a group of church members.

Bold Riley offers joyful, acoustic folk music to audiences around Maine and beyond. The five-piece band brings power and light to classic folk favorites, unlikely covers and the original songs they perform.

While members Michael Hayashida, John Gunn, Julia Edwards, Erin Sampson and Dennis Boyd share lead roles, their soaring vocal harmonies are often partnered with fiddle, guitar, banjo, accordion, bass and an ever-expanding list of percussion.

This winter, the group will release their first full-length album, featuring a mix of originals and covers. Subjects range from ancestor communion and parenting to skunks, politics, female sea captains, and two radically different takes on getting up in the morning.

Tickets are $15 at the door, cash or credit.

The First Universalist Church of Auburn is at 169 Pleasant St. There is parking and handicapped-accessibility.
