Free Mr. Rogers film showing in Bethel

BETHEL — A free showing of the film “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the Telstar Middle/High School auditorium, and all are welcome to attend. The movie celebrates the life and legacy of Mr. Rogers.

For over 30 years, Fred Rogers hosted the iconic television show Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, teaching generations of young people about the value of kindness, being one’s self, and learning about the many places and people that make up the neighborhoods where we live. The film explores the life of Mr. Rogers, the beliefs that guided him and his show, and the impact that he made upon the world.

The film is appropriate for audience members who are middle-school age or older. A brief discussion about the importance of kindness and compassion will follow the movie.

Prior to the movie, attendees can purchase a meal prepared by the Telstar Parent-Teacher Association as a fundraiser for the group. Complimentary popcorn and refreshments will be available for the film as well.

The event is being hosted by the Oxford County Resiliency Project and the Telstar PTA. In the event of inclement weather, the film will be shown on Wednesday, March 27, at the same time and place.
