TOPSHAM — Chiwer Mayen scored 12 points to lead Lewiston to a 58-33 boys basketball road win over Mt. Ararat on Tuesday.

Elijah Scales added 10 for the Blue Devils (2-0), who led 15-7 after the first quarter and didn’t give up their lead.

Ty Henke paced the Eagles with 11 points, and Jace Hollenbach added seven.

LEAVITT 53, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 51: Wyatt Hathaway hit a jumper with four seconds remaining as the Hornets held off the Falcons in each team’s season opener in Rumford.

Leavitt outscored Mountain Valley 23-10 in the second quarter to take a 39-25 lead into halftime. The Falcons tightened up their defense in the second half and were able to tie the game before Hathaway’s game-winner.

After a Mountain Valley turnover with 10 seconds left, Leavitt inbounded to Hathaway, who used a screen by Tommy Casey then drained a step-back jumper.

Hathaway finished with a game-high 25 points, with 20 of those scored in the first half. He also had six rebounds and four assists. Ben Sirois added 10 points, all in the first half, and Joziah Learned chipped in eight for the Hornets.

Airick Richard paced the Falcons with 20 points, while Kalen Chase added 14.

DIRIGO 55, ST. DOMINIC 45: Charlie Houghton led the Cougars with 17 points as they defeated the Saints in Auburn.

Trenton Hutchinson added 11 points for Dirigo.

Gabe Carey led the St. Dom’s with 10 points.

OAK HILL 72, BUCKFIELD 20: Ramon Spearman scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Raiders to the win in Wales. It was the season opener for both teams.

Maverick Swan added 13 points for Oak Hill (1-0), while Alex Fournier had 11.

Buckfield (0-1) was led by Gavin Charest’s nine points.

SKOWHEGAN 59, MT. BLUE 40: Adam Savage scored 23 points, lifting the River Hawks to the victory in Farmington.

Kyle LePage had 15 points for Skowhegan, while Collin LePage netted 13.

Zach Poisson scored a team-high 13 points for the Cougars.

LEWISTON 54, MT. ARARAT 47: Myah Nicolas led the Blue Devils with 12 points as they improved to 2-0 by defeating the Eagles in Lewiston.

Lauren Foster recorded a double-double for Lewiston with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Lauren Magno paced Mt. Ararat with 18 points and Jaden Lohr chipped in 12 points.

MARANACOOK 48, WINTHROP 40: Grace Dwyer scored 15 points for the Black Bears in a win over the Ramblers in Winthrop.

Natalie Whitten added nine points for Maranacook.

Maddie Perkins led Winthrop with 14 points, while Lydia Rice added 10 points.

OXFORD HILLS 69, FRYEBURG 18: Cassady Dumont paced the Vikings with 13 points in a decisive victory over the Raiders in Paris.

Celia Melanson added 11 points for Oxford Hills.

Brooke Emery led Fryeburg Academy with eight points.

RANGELEY 55, VALLEY 52: Winnie LaRochelle scored 38 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Lakers to a victory over the Cavaliers in Rangeley.

Emily Eastlack added 13 points and five assists and Ellah Smith contributed four points and 10 rebounds for Rangeley.

Logan McDonald led Valley with 18 points, while Madeline Hill scored 17.

Kayla Smith had 12 points for the Hornets.

DIRIGO 41, ST. DOMINIC 30: Page Lueders hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter as the Cougars pulled away from the Saints in Dixfield on Tuesday.

Lueders led all scorers with 12 points. Teammate Grace Robbins added 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Megan Fletcher pulled down seven rebound and contributed four points.

Ava Apodaca and Jessica Zimmer led St. Dom’s with eight points apiece, while Benedict Yombe finished with seven.
