Chester A. Brown

SOUTH PARIS – Chester A. Brown, 74, passed away on April 1, 2021, at Market Square Healthcare Center. He was born on Sept. 23, 1946 to Roger and Ruth (Merrill) Brown in Albany.

In his younger days he worked at a mill in Bethel.

In 1984 he moved in with John and Carol Cox and their five children in South Woodstock, and soon became another member of their family. In later years, he loved spending time with the grandchildren and enjoyed going to school events and family gatherings. He was loved by all.

He enjoyed woodworking, riding around on the lawn mower mowing lawns, going for rides, going to fairs and helping out with farm chores. He especially loved his family and friends and helping out however he could.

In recent years he became very close to his niece, Rebecca Hatstat, and looked forward to her visits.

Because of ill health, he spent the last two years at Market Square Health Care Center where he made several more friends, especially Karen Campbell, and his roommate, Frank Gibson.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Market Square Health Care Center for the care and kindness that they had shown to Chester during his stay there. They also became like family to Chester. He enjoyed joking and laughing with all, especially his “lady friends”. He liked to stir up “trouble” in a fun way and then chuckle about it.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 45 Main Street, South Paris. Online condolences may be shared with his family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com .
