Anita C. Labbe

AUBURN – Anita C. Labbe, 92, died peacefully, at her daughter’s house in Auburn on Friday, April 2, 2021. Anita was born in Lewiston, Maine, on Dec. 20, 1928, the oldest daughter of Armand and Marianne Cote Dionne. She attended Lewiston schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School with the class of 1947. While attending a dance at the YWCA in Auburn, Anita met and fell in love with her future husband, Arthur Labbe. The high school sweethearts were married in 1950, enjoying 52 years of marriage until Arthur’s death in May of 2002. For many years Anita worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses in the Lewiston-Auburn area. Anita enjoyed spending time with her family- going out to eat, attending her grand daughters’ sporting events, shopping “with the girls”, bowling on the Seniors League, traveling and going for Sunday rides. For many years Anita relished going to Cabbage Island with friends and family to enjoy a long anticipated lobster feed and the shared company of the ones she loved.

A lady before her time, she was a strong advocate for “her girls” encouraging and supporting her daughters and granddaughters in all their endeavors.

Anita was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, sister, Jeanne Dionne Manduca, mother-in-law, Roselva Poirier Labbe, brother-in-law, William Manduca, nephews, Russell Manduca and Thomas Manduca.

She is survived and missed by: daughters, Pamela Ouimette (Frank) of Greene, Patricia Labbe (Patrick Coburn) of Auburn, granddaughters, Emily Ivers (Cam) of Auburn, Sarah Johnson (Seth Sterling) of Auburn, Sophia Ouimette and great-granddaughter, Rylie Rose Ivers. She will also be missed by grand dogs, Ellie, Marley, Lucy, Bear, Ryder, Mia, and Mika. The family is extremely grateful to the staff of Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice for their compassionate in home care. Services are under the care of The Fortin Group 217 Turner St. Auburn, Me. 207-783-4585. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a Service at 1 p.m., with interment to follow at St. Peter Cemetery.
