Cecile D. Brodeur

AUBURN – Cecile D. Brodeur, 86, of Lewiston, Maine, departed her loving family on May 1, 2021, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, Maine, after a battle with cancer.

She was a devout Catholic and attended the Holy Family Catholic Church in Lewiston, Maine until the Covid Epidemic. It gave her much comfort to follow her faith by watching Mass on television. She loved watching Father Daniel and often commented on how much he made her smile.

Cecile was born in Lewiston, Maine on Aug. 4, 1934. A daughter of the late Joseph and Emelda (Labonte) Lebrun. She was the eighth of 11 children growing up in “Little Canada”.

She graduated from St. Mary’s School June 10, 1949 and on Jan. 28, 1983 earned her State Equivalency Diploma from Lewiston Adult Education with a certificate of merit for commendable achievement. Finishing her High School Education was very important to her and she was extremely proud of her accomplishment.

Cecile married the love of her life, Fernand AJ Brodeur, on Feb. 4, 1961. Their life was not a rich one regarding money, but rich in love for family and the Catholic faith. During her life with Fern, she was a homemaker working various part-time jobs. Late in life she volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital and joined the “Red Hatters” and attended the YMCA and various exercise classes. She enjoyed traveling and dining with Marie, her sister-in-law and late brother, Jim.

Cecile was a loving mother always putting the needs of her children before her own.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Debra Picher and husband Michael of Vassalboro, Maine; daughter, Nancy Tyner and husband Thomas of Lexington, South Carolina; son, Robert Brodeur of Auburn, Maine.

She leaves behind her grandchildren, Michael Gagne and wife Sarah of Gorham, Maine. Amy Gagne of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Tyler Brodeur of Lowell, Massachusetts and Matthew Picher of Vassalboro, Maine. She Also leaves behind her sister Pricilla Bard, Brother, Guy Lebrun and wife Joanne. Brothers-in-law, Raymond Rancourt and Joseph Giiguere. Sister-in-law and very best friend, Marie Lebrun.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Roger, Bertrand and Gerard “Jim” Lebrun. Sisters, Exilia Beaulieu, Simonne Pelletier, Lucienne Giguere, Jeanne D’arc Lebrun, Claudette Rancourt and several nieces and nephews.

We will always carry your memory in our hearts. Special thanks to Dr. Cynthia Desoi and the Androscoggin Hospice House for taking great care of our mother during her last days.

Visitation will be Friday May 7, 2021, from 8:30-11 a.m., at Fortin’s Funeral Home, 217 Turner St., Auburn, Maine 04210. Funeral services will take place immediately following visitation at the funeral home.
