Alden L. Macomber

AUBURN – Alden L. Macomber, 92, of Clubhouse Lane Auburn, died Thursday May 6, 2021 at his home.

He was born on the family farm in Auburn on August 27, 1928, a son of the late Leon and Beatrice (James) Macomber. Alden was educated in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School. Alden worked on the family dairy farm until it sold. Then they operated Macomber’s Dairy along side his father and brother. He loved his work and didn’t mind the long hours and hard work it took to run the dairy. He eventually retired from the Auburn Water District.

Alden married his true love, the former Margaret Howes on June 24, 1949, they spent many wonderful years together and enjoyed living in their home in Auburn and golfing together. He also enjoyed his jigsaw puzzles, he always had one he was working on and anyone who visited with him was welcome to help, playing cards at Schooner and fishing with the guys in the Alagash and vacationing on Rangeley Lake in his younger years.

Alden was a member of the Tranquil Lodge in Auburn and also a very active member of the Patrol unit with the Kora Shrine.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Margaret, of Auburn; his son, Kelley Macomber and his wife Judi of Camden, his daughter, Diane M. Jordan and her husband Blaine of Mechanic falls, a son-in-law, Jimmy Clark of Tarpon Springs, Fl;.; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Kervin Macomber, a daughter, Darlene Clark; a brother, Lawrence Macomber and two sisters Arlene Grant and Ruth Desjardins.
