Sylvia Lowell

AUBURN – Sylvia Lowell passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021 at Clover Manor. She was born on June 21, 1932 to Lewis and Muriel (Haskell) Whittier in Poland.

Sylvia graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1950. After graduating she married Edward Lowell on June 16, 1951 and settled on Mechanic Falls. They celebrated 69 years of marriage in June of 2020.

She was employed at Poland Springs Job Corp, Fleet Bank and retiring from Bank of America. She served as secretary for Mechanic Falls police chief for a period of time. She enjoyed knitting and cross word puzzles, making people laugh and working on the Bruce Whittier golf tournament. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by brothers, Bruce Whittier, Clarence Whittier, Francis Whittier, sisters Lilla Sylvester, Elizabeth Martin, and sister-in-law, Madeline Allen.

Surviving are her sons Dan Lowell and his wife Linda of Turner, William Lowell and his wife Amanda, also of Turner; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; Mary Whittier and James and Tania Whittier; along with her nieces and nephews.

Family graveside services for Sylvia and Edward Lowell will be held in the spring.
