The Sound of Stars
By Alechia Dow
The Ilori invade Earth, killing one third of the population in this debut novel by Alechia Dow. We meet Ellie Baker, one of the survivors who keeps a secret library, an offense punishable by execution as the Ilori have made music, art and books illegal to have or use.
We also meet M0RriS, an Ilori commander who is to carry out her execution after finding her illegal stash. Fortunately for Ellie, M0RriS finds himself absorbing all the music and books he can get his hands on. He decides to help her try to save humankind and their beloved media.
I absolutely loved this book! I loved how the author wrote something very different than anything I’ve read before. I really enjoyed the characters and riding along with them as they got to know one another and discovered all the things they had in common despite many differences.
Come along on their journey of the books and music they share throughout the entire book and see if they can save the world.
