RUMFORD – Phyllis H. Prue, 93 and longtime resident of Peru, Maine, passed away Sunday afternoon at the Rumford Hospital with family at her side. She was born in Pownal, Maine on Feb. 20, 1928, one of five children born to Joseph and Elva (Poland) Hodsdon. She served as Postmaster for a number of communities and finished her career retiring as Postmaster for the town of Weld, Maine.
Phyllis was an avid and competitive Cribbage and card player who enjoyed weekly card games with her sisters and friends for many, many years. She and Lester were longtime active members in the American Legion and the Ladies Auxilliary, the Eagles Club and the Dixfield Historical Society.
She also enjoyed ceramics and spending many summers at Dummer’s Beach in Weld. But most of all, she loved the good times and the fun times spent with her entire family. Phyllis was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
