David Bussiere

NAPLES – David Bussiere, 51, of Naples, passed away June 20, 2021 at CMMC after a long battle with alcoholism.

He was born at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Ohio in 1970, the son of Maurice Bussiere and Micheline (Hamel) Bussiere. After graduating from Lewiston High School, Dave became an apprentice in the Sheet Metal Union, then worked in the kitchen for his sister Michelle both at Pat’s Pizza in Windham and Joker’s in Portland Maine. He also worked as a house painter for Dan Cailler. He later became disabled due to Diabetic Nephropathy which resulted in his inability to work. The years finally caught up to him and he died due to his related health consequences.

Throughout his adult life, David lived on and off with his sister, Michelle, both in Greene, and finally in Naples. Michelle made a promise to her mother that she would watch over him, which she did to the very end. He loved dogs, especially playing fetch with “Bogey” his adopted German Shepherd. The morning of his death, Bogey was laying by his side waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

As we all know, David was the life of the party and always a “happy“ drinker. Boy could he tell stories. The same ones over and over, three to four times in the same night! He was also an avid Red Sox and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, watching every game, coaching from his chair yelling at the TV. He also loved darts and played in a league at Chances in Lewiston.

He was known to be big- hearted and would help anyone. When he was at Bolster rehabilitating he was often seen helping the patients. He also watered the plants, shoveled the walkways and helped out the staff. He had a gentle soul and loved to laugh. He could watch the same TV show 12 times and would laugh at the same thing over and over. He also loved to create meals-like his famous seafood chowder. It cost over $100 to make because everything had to be the best!

He was predeceased by his mother, Micheline Bussiere and survived by his father, Maurice “Buzz” Bussiere and stepmother, Christine Acker of Buxton; his sister, Michelle Bussiere and her life-partner Jim Gratello of Naples; his nephew, Niko Torres of Auburn; and several aunts and cousins.

Visitation will be held at the Albert and Burpee Funeral Home on Monday starting at 6 p.m., with a funeral service at 7 p.m.
