LEWISTON — A local man remained hospitalized with serious injuries Saturday after his motorcycle collided with a car Wednesday night on Lisbon Street.

Police said James Chiaravelotti., 54, of Lewiston was riding on Lisbon Street at about 8 p.m. Wednesday when the driver of an oncoming car turned in front of him.

Police said Dorothy Samson, 81, of Lewiston, had been driving inbound on Lisbon Street when she turned left onto Westminster Street, and into the path of Chiaravelotti’s 2006 Buell motorcycle.

Chiaravelotti was knocked from his bike, unconscious. He was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center where he remained on Saturday with multiple injuries, including broken ribs, pelvis and collarbone. It’s expected that he’ll remain hospitalized for another four to six weeks.

Chiaravelotti had been wearing a helmet, police said.

Neither Samson nor her passengers were hurt in the crash, which remained under investigation.
