BUCKFIELD — Residents showed their support for the town Tuesday by approving all 43 municipal budget articles for the 2021-22 fiscal year.
Election workers completed counting all the votes by 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Town Clerk Melissa Wolf said 216 residents voted for the $2 million budget, which covered all areas of municipal government, from road maintenance and rescue services to cemeteries and streetlights.
All but 13 articles passed by more than a 2-to-1 margin.
The closest question was support for the Rescue Service account, which passed 110-102, with four blank ballots. The Rescue Service was asking for $334,640, an increase from $273,280 last year.
Three other articles passed with less than 54% of the vote — hydrant rental, administration and debt service for the first payment on an excavator.
Residents once again voted overwhelmingly to cast ballots on next year’s budget at the polls rather than at a town meeting.
The vote, as well as the recent completion of the town audit, helps provide a clean slate for incoming Town Manager Lorna Dee Nichols of New Sharon, who begins Monday.
