DEAR SUN SPOTS: Have you heard when cranberry bread will be in stores again? Country Kitchen and Thomas have been two of the brands in the past that have this seasonal bread available in November.

In this area at least, it seems it’s only available during November and December in limited markets. In the past, I’ve found it at Shaw’s, some Walmart stores and Freihofer’s discount outlet in Lewiston. There are very limited quantities wherever it’s available. We hope there will be more of it this year than last because my friends and I anxiously await it. — No name, no town

ANSWER: This bread sounds yummy. I’m wondering if the very limited quantities last year was a result of the pandemic.

The best advice I can give you is to call the stores where you usually shop and ask the grocery manager if they will have it in the store and when. When you find it, grab a few loaves and store it in your freezer.

Pepperidge Farm also makes a cranberry swirl bread so watch for that brand as well.

As an aside, have you tried the seasonal breads at the outlet store, When Pigs Fly in Freeport at 21 Main St.? They have a delicious Pumpkin-Cranberry-Apple bread. This bread is heartier and more of a sourdough loaf but it is loaded with flavor. It’s popular but you can call the store and reserve your loaves. Check it out on https://sendbread.com/ or call the store at 865-6006.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I wanted to let Sun Spots readers know about our weekly radio show on www.folkmusicnotebook.com, airing every Thursday at noon and at 6 and 11 p.m. (Sun Spots question Oct. 1 about musician Dave Rowe and his wife’s sailing adventures.)  “Folk on the Water 2.0” is archived at https://www.daverowemusic.com/folk-on-the-water.html within a day or so of airing.

Right now, we’re waiting for favorable conditions to get south to the ICW. We are in Solomon’s, Maryland, where we’ve been for the past couple of weeks, so there’s nothing new to report. This Thursday’s “Folk on the Water 2.0” is an all-music program because of our recent lack of progress, which wasn’t all due to weather. I had two gigs to play in the area this past weekend, so we were holding position until that was over, and the weather since and for the next few days has been/will be windy and rough on Chesapeake Bay. Not being in a rush means we don’t have to run when conditions aren’t wonderful. — Dave, no town

ANSWER: You can also follow Dave on his Facebook page for updates, but there is much more information, plus music on his weekly radio show. I will also update you all here in Sun Spots from time to time.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The information regarding one of the rug shampoo rental businesses in the area in the Oct. 28 Sun Spots should be updated. Stevens Hardware and Rentals in Sabattus was sold to the Sturtevant family last year and is called Sturdy Hardware. The telephone number is the same: 375-6253. — Jon, no town

ANSWER: Thank you, Jon. The Rolodex has been updated.
