Hattie Isabel Freeman

MEXICO – Hattie Isabelle Freeman, 94, long term resident of Byron, recently moved to Mexico, died at home surrounded by family on Saturday, November 6, 2021. She was born on Jan. 25, 1927 in Roxbury, Maine, daughter of Leroy and Thelma Glover Hodgson. Hattie graduated from Edward Little High School in 1944. Hattie served as town clerk and tax collector in Byron for several years and was active in numerous school, community, and Church activities. She was a member of The Parish of the Holy Savior. She is survived by eight children: Linda (Doug) Doerr, Susan (Russ) Hayden, Judy Freeman, Cynthia Freeman, Walter Freeman, Diane (d. Mike) Sandusky, John Freeman, and Melody Sanborn; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jody Flagg and Mavis Powell and one brother, Alton Hodgson. She was predeceased by her husband, John Elliott Freeman; their infant son “Baby Boy”; her parents; three sisters, Lillia Gillis, Anne Touchette, and Jean Arsenault and two brothers.
