PARIS — The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rash of vehicle burglaries that occurred early Monday morning along the Route 5 corridor between Bethel and Lovell.
In several of the incidents, the suspects discharged firearms when they were confronted by witnesses, Chief Deputy James Urquhart said Monday.
No injuries were reported, but property was damaged by gunshots.
Items stolen include firearms and wallets.
The suspect’s vehicle, described as a silver midsized sedan, is believed to have been occupied by three males. Investigators believe the vehicle left the Bethel area and headed toward New Hampshire about 5:30 a.m.
The Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from state and local law enforcement agencies.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oxford County Regional Communications Center at 207-743-9554 or, in an emergency, call 911.
Residents are reminded to keep their vehicles locked, remove valuable items and park them in a building or well-lit area, if possible.
