FREEPORT — Ali Portas led Gray-New Gloucester with 15 points in a 49-42 WMC girls basketball win in overtime over Freeport on Saturday.
Amber Fortin’s four consecutive free throws sealed the win for the Patriots (1-0). She finished with 13 points. Izzy Morelli had 10 points in the win.
Sydney Gelhar led the Falcons (0-1) with nine points while Maddie Cormier and Isabelle Orlando each had eight points.
BOYS HOCKEY
SCARBOROUGH 5, ST. DOMINIC 1: Colin Casserly scored in the third period for the Saints (0-1) in their season-opening loss to the Red Storm (1-0) in Gorham.
Tim Ouellette set up Casserly’s goal. Goalie Jayden Lynn stopped 27 of 32 shots for St. Dom’s.
GIRLS HOCKEY
CAPE ELIZABETH/WAYNFLETE/SOUTH PORTLAND 5, EDWARD LITTLE/LEAVITT/POLAND 3: Marina Bassett scored twice in the third period to help Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete/South Portland (4-0) pull away from Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland at Troubh Ice Arena.
Becca Good, Libby Hooper and Catie Lee also scored for the Capers, who trailed 3-2 going into the third period.
Sophia Hartley, Eve Martineau and Alyssa Prosser each had a goal for the Red Hornets.
