DEAR SUN SPOTS: Did you know that goats like to eat Christmas trees and wreaths (the real ones, of course!) If you are looking for a way to recycle your tree after the holidays, find some goats nearby! — Judy, Litchfield

ANSWER: Pigs, sheep and chickens like to snack on Christmas trees and wreaths, too. If you are the caretaker of any of these animals within Sun Spots Land and want readers to drop off their trees and wreaths at your place, please write in with your contact information. I’ll be happy to spread the word!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My mother passed away recently at the age of 92. She was always a “fashion plate” and has some beautiful clothing for all seasons that she barely wore. Some items are still in their original packaging. Everything is what a mature, slender lady who has the occasion to dress up in stylish dresses and suits and is size 3 to 5 would wear. I would like to donate everything to a place where senior women would be able to shop or be able to access the clothing at no cost. — Beth, no town

ANSWER: First of all, I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you for writing to Sun Spots as other readers will see this offer and be able to give suggestions. Because of the specifics that you provided, the first place that comes to my mind is the Androscoggin Hospice Thrift Store at 245 Center St., Suite 2, Auburn. The number is 777-7740. The website is androscoggin.org/hospicethriftstore

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to thank the person who left a holiday basket on my porch Dec. 21. Not only was it a beautiful basket but it contained a hand-knit shawl and hat, a bag of apples, root vegetables, a small frozen turkey, and a tin of homemade cookies. Like so many people, I’ve had a difficult year and this act of kindness and generosity was a wonderful surprise. I have no idea who left this for me, but I hope whoever you are, you see this and know how appreciated it all is. — No name, Sabattus

ANSWER: What a pleasing gift assortment! These items will help you through the winter and isn’t it so nice to know someone is thinking of you and wishing you well?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to find a small vintage statue of Mother Mary about 6 to 12 inches tall. I’d prefer she be wearing blue and white and not be holding baby Jesus. The “Lady of Grace” version made from porcelain would be ideal. Most of the statues I’ve seen online are made from stone or resin.

This is for an elderly friend who had a special Mary and it was accidentally dropped and broken. If anyone has one they would be willing to part with, I will pay a fair price for it. Please write to sparkyblue111@gmail.com. — Lee, no town

ANSWER: I hope some kind person in Sun Spots Land can be of help. I remember there was a Mother Mary figurine in my grandparent’s home when I was growing up and it seemed to bring my grandmother comfort, especially in her later years.
