PARIS — A water pipe burst Thursday evening beneath the pavement on Paris Hill Road, flooding the road and at least one home.

The break was reported to the Paris Fire Department at 10:50 p.m.

The Paris Utility District was called to shut off the water and a highway department crew provided sand for the road. A portable pump was used to help the owner of the flooded home at 443 Paris Hill Road.

Penny Lowe, the district manager, said her crews were working Friday morning to repair the six-inch pipe, which she hoped would be completed by early Friday afternoon.

This is the second water main break this winter on Paris Hill Road. Lowe said an earlier break occurred Dec. 10 at the bottom of the hill.
